Isaac Lincoln's Home 1A14
In a house in this locality lived this Revolutionary veteran, who came from Rockingham County, Va. His nephew, Thomas, and wife Nancy Hanks Lincoln, later to become the parents of Abraham Lincoln, spent the winter of 1808-09 here. Isaac died in 1816.

Lincoln Memorial University 1D12
Chartered Feb. 12, 1897, as memorial to Abraham Lincoln. Among organizers were Maj. Gen. 0.0. Howard, USA, Capt. R.F. Patterson, CSA, and A.A. Myers, Congregational minister. Succeeded Harrow School, established at Cumberland Gap, 1890. College opened 1899 with Dr. John Hale Larry as first President, on site of Four Seasons Hotel.
