Site of 31 acre vineyard owned and operated by Fr. John Peter Kreusch (1818-88), German priest who served St. Alphonsus German Catholic Church (1859-83). Vineyard, set circa 1862, yielded from 4,000 to 15,000 gallons of unadulterated altar wine used by area churches annually until 1890s. Cellars were 80' long, 25' wide and 20' high. Father Kreusch's vineyard was one of several along Ohio River.
