Parson's Turnpike 1E52

Charter for this turnpike was first issued to members of the Houston family in 1822; in 1825 to Joshua Parsons and John Isbill, to Benjamin Johnston in 1854 and to Boyd McMurray in 1869. It ran from the mouth of Abrams Creek to North Carolina, connecting with the Callaway Turnpike at Calderwood (Tallassee Ford), which joined Unicoi Turnpike near Madisonville.
