One of largest and most complete Union Army hospitals during the Civil War, from 1862 to 1865. With 4,500 beds in one-story buildings and hundreds of tents, it occupied over 16 acres north of here. Named for Gen. Richard Satterlee, Union Army Medical Purveyor. At the Gettysburg Stone in Clark Park, between 43rd and 44th streets on Baltimore Avenue, Philadelphia. Philadelphia County Pennsylvania.
