Here stood the home of colonial Philadelphia's leading architect and builder. Born Jan. 14, 1772 at Dalkeith, Scotland, he died Feb. 11, 1777. Among his buildings are the Christ Church steeple, St. Peter's Church, the Walnut Street Prison, and Carpenters' Hall.
