About 1/4 mile east was Garrett Freeland's house, stockaded in 1778 to protect settlers during the Revolutionary War. On July 28, 1779, it was captured by British and Iroquois. An attempted rescue by Fort Boone militia and Captain Kemplin's Ranger Company failed. Several escaped, but many were either killed (including Captains Boone and Dougherty) or taken prisoner. About 50 women and children were allowed to go free. SR 1007 (old Pa147) near Warrior Run Church N of McEwensville. Northumberland County Pennsylvania.
