AUNT BECK MAY HOUSE
EARLY HISTORY

First built at western edge of Mingo Swamp circa 1885. Acquired by William & Rebecca May, who dismantled and reconstructed on 43 acres of land deeded to William May as payment for services in the Civil War circa 1894.

RECENT HISTORY

Last owner of record -- Earl & Ruth Carver

Donated by Earl & Ruth Carver to Evelyn (May) Wilson
Great Granddaughter to William & Rebecca May
She donated the house to the Wayne County Historical Society
to be reconstructed at the City of Piedmont
Dismantling began March 23, 1995, completed May 31, 1995.
Logs moved to Piedmont by Earl Carver June 2, 1995.
Reconstruction began by Wayne County Historical Society
Members and supporters June 3, 1995.
