Butterfield Stage Line Overland Mail
[Located 1½ miles S. of Elkton this is the marker and stop referred to in the State Historical Society Marker in Elkton. But this was only a stop in 1858. The photo of the woods above shows the road where the stage line ran in 1859 to 1861. The stop then was about 300 feet W. of where the photographer was standing. NO marker or sign remains today, but the road is discernible. This site is a ¼ mile west of Yoast Marker on the same gravel country road (CR-340). This information is oral history from Edward Price, direct descendant of Civil War General Edward Price and his father Sterling Price.] Drywood Threshers Association, Sheldon, MO.
