This site was established in memory of all who have served and all who have been lost in the fire service. The Walk of Honor is paved with bricks engraved with the names of individuals and organizations that made this Memorial possible. The first four walls remember those who have passed after having served for more that ten years as a fire fighter in Missouri. The walls flanking the statue remember those having made the supreme sacrifice of giving their lives in the line of duty.
A Fire Fighter's Prayer
When I am called to duty, God Whenever flames may rage Give me strength to save some life Whatever be it's age Help me embrace a little child Before it is too late Or save an older person from The horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert, And hear the weakest shout, And quickly and efficiently To put the fire out, I want to fill my calling and To give the best in me, To guard my every neighbor and Protect his property. And if according to my fate, I am called to your house, Please bless with your protecting hand My children and my spouse.
[Original statue was taken to New York for their memorial, the names are from every fire district throughout the State of Missouri] Every Fire District within the State of Missouri, to long a list to place here. I-70 & US-54, Kingdom City, Callaway County Missouri.
