This marker is dedicated to all the Indiana men who served the Union at the Battle of Perryville. Fourteen regiments of Indiana Volunteers and five batteries of light artillery participated. The dedication and courage of the Hoosier soldiers present were well symbolized by the heroic stand make by Lt. Charles Parsons and his battery at this spot.
