First College for Blacks in Delaware Established May 15, 1891 by an Act of the Delaware General Assembly as the State College for Colored Students by virtue of the 1890 Morril Land-Grant and under the provisions of the 1862 Morril Act of Congress. Incorporated July 1, 1891. Reincorporated March 10, 1911. Named changed to Delaware State College in 1947.
