Milton was settled c. 1829 by Wm Collins. By 1840 it was a prominent village of Autauga County. The 1886 flood buried it in sand and the town never recovered. Among the pioneer settlers were Wm L. & Sarah Taylor, Elihu & Elizabeth Parr Bates, great-grandparents of "Lady Bird" Taylor Johnson, the wife of the 36th President & a frequent visitor to this area since childhood.
